Braithwaite & Keswick
The Old Farmhouse Mews cottages are situated right in the centre of Braithwaite village – 3 miles from Keswick at the foot of Whinlatter Pass, just below Thornthwaite Forest. At the top of the pass is England’s only true Mountain Forest, Whinlatter, which offers stunning views, fantastic walks, exhilarating mountain biking, rare wildlife and adventure play. There is also Cyclewise there where you can hire a mountain bike to discover some of the trails or Go Ape where you can enjoy a tree-top adventure.
Braithwaite is a lovely village, which has repeatedly won the ‘Best Kept Village’ award. Nearby the Old Farmhouse Mews is the village shop where you can buy most of your everyday supplies. Also close by are two local pubs offering substantial bar meals and a selection of real ales, ideal for ending a perfect day.
Within a short drive are Derwentwater, Bassenthwaite Lake and the picturesque tourist town of Keswick which offers a huge variety of restaurants, shops, museums, the famous Theatre by the Lake and Keswick Leisure Pool.
