The Old Farmhouse Mews is situated right in the centre of Braithwaite village – 2 miles from Keswick and is located at the foot of Whinlatter Pass, just below Thornthwaite Forest. At the top of the pass is England’s only true Mountain Forest, Whinlatter which offers stunning views, fantastic walks, exhilarating mountain biking, rare wildlife and adventure play. There is also Cyclewise there where you can hire a mountain bike to discover some of the trails or Go Ape where you can enjoy a tree top adventure.

Braithwaite is a lovely village, which has repeatedly won the ‘Best Kept Village’ award. Just opposite Old Farmhouse Mews is the village shop where you can buy most of your everyday supplies. Close by, two local pubs offer substantial bar meals and a selection of real ales, ideal for ending a perfect day.

Within a short drive are Derwentwater, Bassenthwaite Lake and the picturesque tourist town of Keswick which offers a variety of restaurants, shops, museums, the famous Theatre by the Lake and Keswick Leisure pool.

Scafell, Helvelyn and Skiddaw – Englands highest mountains are all accessible from our location and there are many other climbing and walking opportunities available in this area of the Northern Lakes.
